Concerned Black Men Supports the Haiti Relief Effort

by Leroy Hughes last modified 2010-01-14 05:53 PM

On behalf of Byron Browder, National Chair, the Board of Directors and general membership of Concerned Black Men – National Organization (CBM), we offer our deepest concern regarding our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

As you may know, the country of Haiti has been struck by a catastrophic earthquake. It is estimated that as many as 50,000 Haitians may have lost their lives as a direct result of this calamity. As part of our efforts to support the people of Haiti in this time of need, we encourage the general public and every member of the Concerned Black Men to consider how to best support present emergency and relief efforts.

As per the public advisement from President Obama and The White House, you can immediately donate to the Red Cross through their website: http://www.americanredcross.org to assist the relief effort or, donate $10 to be charged to your cell phone bill by texting "HAITI" to "90999."  You can also find more ways to help through the Center for International Disaster Information, or through USAID’s interactive website, which has a list of non-governmental agencies (NGOs) and instructions on how to help: http://www.usaid.gov.

Thanks in advance as you consider how to best support relief efforts for the people of Haiti. For more information regarding the government’s efforts please visit the following website: http://www.whitehouse.gov/HaitiEarthquake
